The Traverse is one of Chevrolet’s most popular vehicles. It’s a midsize SUV that is truck-based rather than car-based, and it has enough legroom and headroom for adults in all three rows while still delivering impressive dedicated cargo space. The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse that is now available at Chevrolet of Wooster is a big deal in that it introduces an all-new third generation. One of the goals with the redesign was expanding the standard equipment and the options while paring down the trim selection. There will be just four core trims moving forward: LS, LT, Z71, and RS.

The Z71 concept dates all the way back to the 1970s, and is branding that is used for trim levels and optional packages configured for off-road use. In recent years, Chevrolet has used it for the Silverado and Colorado pickup trucks and the Tahoe and Suburban, which are full-size SUVs. It has never used it for the Traverse despite there being a good deal of demand, but that all changes with the 2024 model. One of the most notable differences between the Z71 and other trims is that it comes standard with all-wheel drive. Not only that, but it has a more advanced AWD system configured for off-road performance.

The Z71 otherwise has the same powertrain as every other 2024 Chevrolet Traverse near Ashland. Chevrolet pairs an eight-speed automatic transmission with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The V6 has been retired as the turbo four is more powerful while also being more fuel efficient. The Z71 also gets a 1-inch suspension lift, upgraded shock absorbers, an adjust approach angle, all-terrain tires and a terrain-based drive mode system.
